It’s time to get serious about teaching critical thinking

In an era where we have instant access to echo chambers and agreeable social media feeds, our social solutions run the risk of being based on biased data, and our own biases limit our ability to spot the flaws in our own beliefs. In this Inside Higher Ed article, Jonathan Haber describes the role of universities in fostering students’ critical thinking through small touches scattered throughout the curriculum. (See also: From the Students’ View: Professors Who Cultivate Critical Thinking Skills, in which four students recall how faculty members helped them grow in their critical thinking skills.)
