Principled Innovation Courses

The Principled Innovation (PI) course offerings provide flexible, self-paced learning experiences to explore and apply PI in professional settings. Courses introduce the core concepts and character assets of PI through interactive modules and build on this foundation with scenario-based activities that focus on applying PI practices in workplace decision-making. These courses support deeper reflection and practical strategies for integrating PI into everyday work.


Who are these courses for?

These courses are designed primarily for faculty, staff and students at Mary Lou Fulton College for Teaching and Learning Innovation, but they are written to be broadly accessible.

Foundations course

“Building a Foundation for Principled Innovation” is a free, self-paced course that provides an introduction to the concept of PI and in particular, to the character assets that are at its core. It includes six modules and will take roughly 5 to 6 hours to complete in total. You can work on it over multiple sittings, spread out over days or weeks, depending on your needs, to give yourself time to absorb and process the content.

Purposeful Practice course

This course provides strategies and resources for integrating Principled Innovation (PI) into your professional practice at Mary Lou Fulton College for Teaching and Learning Innovation. Through interactive scenarios and reflective activities, you will explore the four domains of PI, align personal values with its eight practices, and apply PI strategies to workplace decision-making. Designed for flexibility, this one-hour course allows you to engage at your own pace while deepening your understanding of PI in a meaningful and practical way.
