The classroom provides an important laboratory in which students learn what a fair and equitable society should look like. From an early age, when students have teachers who spend the time and energy needed to understand their perspectives, beliefs, and values, they learn that their voices are important in the democratic society around them and that they have a right to contribute their own ideas, even if their concerns are in the minority. Teachers practicing Principled Innovation engage the Civic character assets of perspective taking and inclusivity by finding creative ways to ensure that each student’s voice is heard. Designing individual and group activities that draw out students’ values allows teachers to create empathetic bonds with students and parents and to become more responsive, allowing each person’s values to inform the design of the classroom experience.
It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).
